A wonderful find, and I’m going to call it, why not? This is a designer straw boater by iconic Adelaide Design House, George Gross. The era also adds up, so just maybe this was once owned by Oscar winning director Jane Campion? (See name scrawled inside the hat.) We can surmise.
This adorable 80’s boater is high quality, a strong straw, not flimsy in anyway. It will best fit a 52 – 53cm head. It is a little dusty from storage, however I found that steaming it works a treat.
Best worn with a 1980’s does 1920’s drop waist dress sitting in a wooden row boat in Cambridge. This could be straight out of Elle magazine Circa 1987.
