Description

The House of Merivale was established in Sydney in the 1960’s and was considered Australia’s answer to the Biba Boutique in London. It was Sydney’s Carnaby Street and was a trendy youth hangout joint.

The following extract is taken from: https://merivale.com/ourstory/

“Owned and run by the Hemmes family for over 60 years, Merivale began as an iconic fashion house started by John and Merivale Hemmes. Merivale’s fashionable beginnings were soon followed by a venture into hospitality, opening a Thai tea café within their Sydney CBD fashion building in 1970. From here, Merivale’s hospitality roots were firmly planted.”

The Merivale label is now highly collectable. This beautiful quality gown literally has the same lines as a beautiful 1940’s cocktail dress I own personally from an Adelaide label.

The dress is fully lined with wonderful draping. The bodice is boned & the skirt features a side split.

A classic, timeless dress that will be forever contemporary in style.

In it is great condition and will best fit an Australian size 8.
